South Franconian (Südfränkisch) is a dialect which is spoken in the northern Baden region in Germany around Karlsruhe, Pforzheim and Rastatt.

In the transient area between Rhine Franconian in the north and the Alemannic dialects in the south, South Franconian has elements of Central German and Upper German, and is really a transitional dialect. The same goes only for East Franconian. South Franconian is one of the High German dialects with the lowest number of speakers. South Franconian is not considered a separate dialect by some observers. The scope of South Franconian is disputed.
